The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has informed provincial governors nationwide to implement the concept "Proud to Wear Thai Across the Land," jointly promoting Thai identity in dress internationally and expanding the wearing of various forms of Thai textiles by all groups of people.
On 12 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Assisit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, revealed the direction to promote dressing according to Thai identity internationally under the concept "Proud to Wear Thai Across the Land." The Ministry of Culture has adopted the policy of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, focusing on strengthening national identity and pride through handicrafts, craftsmanship, and attire such as royal-style Thai outfits, Thai textiles, and various local traditional costumes. This is to encourage civil servants and citizens to wear Thai fabrics daily, supporting the Ministry of Interior's ongoing campaign for civil servants, local administrative organizations, and all sectors to continuously wear Thai fabrics. The campaign aims to stimulate the grassroots economy and provide stable employment and income for local textile entrepreneurs. This effort honors the royal intentions of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, who is dedicated to alleviating the burden of His Majesty the King by continuing the royal initiatives of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, in preserving and promoting Thai textile wisdom and craftsmanship.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior stated that the Ministry has notified governors in all 76 provinces nationwide, including departmental agencies and state enterprises under the Ministry, to collectively advance the "Proud to Wear Thai Across the Land" initiative. This includes gathering knowledge and locating producers of Thai and local textiles, rental shops, retail outlets, and tailoring sources within each province. The campaign encourages wearing royal-style Thai outfits, royal-bestowed Thai costumes, contemporary Thai outfits, adapted Thai costumes, Thai fabrics, and local textile costumes appropriate to each province's interests and suitability for daily life, work, training sessions, seminars, and exhibitions.
