Lt. Col. Thammanat Extends Songkran Greetings, Offers Support Amid Economic Crisis

Lt. Col. Thammanat extends greetings to the Thai people on Songkran 2026, noting that although it is a festival of happiness, citizens continue to face rising living costs. He offers encouragement to everyone to overcome the economic crisis.

On 12 Apr 2026 at 13:30 GMT+7, Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, a party-list MP and advisory chairman of the Kla Tham Party, offered greetings for the Songkran Festival, the traditional Thai New Year in 2026. He stated that Songkran is a sacred time for Thais, representing an opportunity for new beginnings, family reunions, and the continuation of long-standing Thai traditions.

Lt. Col. Thammanat expressed his best wishes to all citizens, hoping that this Thai New Year festival is filled with happiness, warmth, and safety. He especially wished for everyone traveling back to their hometowns to arrive safely without accidents and to spend meaningful time with their families.

However, Lt. Col. Thammanat also addressed the current challenges faced by the people, particularly the cost of living crisis which continues to affect Thai lives. He noted rising prices for energy and consumer goods, alongside incomes that do not keep pace with expenses, causing many citizens to bear heavier burdens in daily life.

"Although this is a time of happiness, people still face hardships from soaring living costs and incomes insufficient to cover expenses. I offer my support and encouragement to all Thai people to overcome these obstacles," Lt. Col. Thammanat said.
