Deputy Transport Minister Inspects Three Highway Service Points for Songkran, Focuses on Accident Reduction and Road User Convenience

Deputy Transport Minister Patthapong inspected three highway service points for Songkran, focusing on reducing accidents and facilitating road users nationwide. He emphasized that officials must ensure the public's safe arrival home.

On 12 April 2026, Deputy Transport Minister Patthapong Patrapasit visited three highway service points to enhance safety measures and convenience for the public during the Songkran festival, a period marked by heavy road traffic.

The inspection covered three locations: the Ang Thong Highway District in Ang Thong Province; the Skill Development Institute 8 in Nakhon Sawan Province; and the Wachirabarami Highway Division in Phichit Province. He reviewed traffic management readiness, route information services, rest stop setups, and the preparation of personnel, tools, and emergency equipment to efficiently support travelers.

The Deputy Transport Minister stated that Songkran is a time of heavy travel and high accident risk. He urged relevant agencies, especially the Department of Highways and the Department of Rural Roads, to collaborate with local authorities to strengthen safety measures, reduce risk points, and facilitate the public along all main and secondary routes nationwide.

“The readiness of highway service points is a key mechanism to reduce accidents and build confidence among road users. I ask all officials to perform their duties fully, 24 hours a day, to ensure safe and smooth travel for the public,” he said. /
