The Royal Gazette published three announcements extending the emergency decree in Narathiwat Province and Su-ngai Kolok District for another three months after violent incidents continue to threaten state security, effective 20 April 2026 GMT+7.
On 12 April 2026 GMT+7, the Royal Gazette website published an announcement regarding the extension of the emergency decree in Narathiwat Province, excluding Yi Ngo District; Su-ngai Kolok District; Waeng District; and Sukhirin District; in Pattani Province, excluding Yaring, Panare, Mayo, Mai Kaen, Thung Yang Daeng, Kapho, and Maelan Districts; and in Yala Province, excluding Betong, Yaha, Raman, Kabang, and Krong Pinang Districts. This follows the previous extension announced on 16 January 2026 GMT+7.
It has been observed that violent incidents threatening state security, public safety, and the normal lives of citizens continue frequently. Authorities have discovered hideouts and stockpiles of personnel and heavy weapons of hostile groups. There is reasonable belief of preparations to attack innocent civilians and state officials in the area. Therefore, extending the emergency decree is appropriate to maintain continuity in resolving unrest affecting state security and the safety of both public and private property. Measures under the Emergency Decree of 2005 are necessary for effective and timely resolution.
Under the authority of Sections 5 and 11, paragraph one, of the Emergency Decree of 2005, the Prime Minister, with Cabinet approval, has extended the emergency decree in Narathiwat Province—excluding Yi Ngo, Su-ngai Kolok, Waeng, and Sukhirin Districts; in Pattani Province—excluding Yaring, Panare, Mayo, Mai Kaen, Thung Yang Daeng, Kapho, and Maelan Districts; and in Yala Province—excluding Betong, Yaha, Raman, Kabang, and Krong Pinang Districts, for another three months, effective from 20 April 2026 GMT+7.
Additionally, the Royal Gazette website published an announcement regarding the emergency situation in Su-ngai Kolok District, Narathiwat Province. Following the cancellation of the emergency decree in Su-ngai Kolok District and its designation as an area affected by internal security incidents, the declaration has been extended to the present. Recently, violent groups have continuously attacked the lives, bodies, and property of state officials and citizens, with many cases being serious crimes committed without fear of the law. The Emergency Situation Administration Committee, in its meeting on 31 March 2026, recommended urgent measures under the Emergency Decree of 2005 for effective and timely resolution.
Under the authority of Sections 5, 6, and 11, paragraph one, of the Emergency Decree of 2005, the Prime Minister, with Cabinet approval, has declared a state of emergency in Su-ngai Kolok District, Narathiwat Province, for three months.
Moreover, the Royal Gazette published an announcement maintaining the validity of Cabinet-issued proclamations under the emergency decree to ensure continuity in operations to prevent, resolve, or suspend serious emergency situations. Under Sections 7 and 11 of the Emergency Decree of 2005, the Cabinet resolved that all proclamations issued under the emergency decree in Narathiwat, Pattani, and Yala Provinces dated 20 July 2005, the emergency declaration in Si Sakhon District, Narathiwat Province dated 19 October 2023, remain effective.
Also maintained are the announcements regarding the establishment of special agencies to operate under the Emergency Decree dated 16 January 2007; the designation of special agencies operating in Si Sakhon District, Narathiwat Province, dated 19 October 2023; and the announcements defining ministerial powers as those of the Prime Minister dated 17 March 2022 and 19 October 2023, all remaining in effect until otherwise decided by the Cabinet.
All three announcements take effect from 20 April 2026 GMT+7 onwards.
Announced on 11 April 2026 GMT+7.
