Theng Natthapong led Tee Kittichai and Phet Karunphon to participate in the Songkran water festival and Thai New Year celebrations, offering support to northern residents in Lampang province. They were warmly welcomed by locals who embraced them, smeared powder, and took photos along the entire route.
On 12 April 2026, Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People’s Party, together with Mr. Kittichai Techakulwanit, deputy leader, and Mr. Karunphon Thiansuwan, deputy spokesperson, along with the party team, visited the northern region to meet the people and listen to their joys and hardships amid the oil crisis during Songkran.
Mr. Natthapong, accompanied by the deputy leader, deputy spokesperson, and the party team, began meeting locals in front of the Lampang Post Office branch on Thipchang Road, ending at the Clock Tower intersection in Lampang. Meanwhile, Lampang residents warmly greeted them with hugs, powder smearing, and photos along the way, while sharing the difficulties they are currently facing.
Participants in the Songkran festivities commented that this year, fewer people have returned home for Songkran compared to previous years. Local vendors reported noticeably fewer attendees at the festival. It is believed that the Middle East conflict causing the oil crisis has affected people’s ability to travel back to their hometowns for Songkran celebrations, and tourist numbers have also declined accordingly.
