Anutin flew a plane to inspect the 7 Dangerous Days checkpoints in Chanthaburi Province, stating that if anyone has requests, they should tell their representatives because they are on the same team. He disclosed that reducing oil prices is necessary but must align with global market price mechanisms.
On 13 Apr 2026 at 13:00, reporters reported that Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, flew his private plane accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Thannon Charnvirakul, to Tha Mai Airport in Tha Mai District, Chanthaburi Province to encourage officials working during the Songkran festival. Anutin, together with Mr. Monsit Paisanthanawat, Governor of Chanthaburi, the provincial administrative organization chief, MPs from Chanthaburi and Trat provinces, and related agencies, visited the 7 Dangerous Days checkpoint at Plubplana Rai Subdistrict Municipality. Anutin presented dry food and drinks to boost morale of the officers at the checkpoint and emphasized road safety measures, including “Don't drink and drive, don't drive drunk.” The overall inspection went smoothly. Afterwards, the group visited a Shell gas station in front of Charoensuk Market to randomly inspect oil vendors' readiness. The inspection found that the station had sufficient fuel reserves to meet public demand, despite the Songkran festival's increased travel volume.
Anutin said in an interview that the administrative authorities, Ministry of Transport, and Ministry of Interior have set up service points for citizens in every province nationwide to assist travelers on main roads by providing information and receiving reports, as well as places to rest from long driving to reduce drowsiness and prevent road accidents. Chanthaburi is considered an economic province, generating significant income from the gem business and fruit production, along with coastal tourism. If there were no disputes between Thailand and Cambodia, Chanthaburi would also benefit from border trade that generates national revenue. Thus, it is an important province that connects to Trat Province, allowing integration of tourism, transport, industry as part of the Eastern Seaboard and Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) expansion from Chanthaburi. Furthermore, local executives and leaders are strong and understand the local context, which will help Chanthaburi and the eastern region grow and strengthen. The government must support all efforts to increase income for the people. The Bhumjaithai Party has all the MPs from Chanthaburi, as well as Trat and Rayong provinces, making it convenient to convey people's problems to the government. If citizens want the government to do anything to improve their quality of life, they must tell their representatives and local leaders, since they are on the same team and issues will reach the government, which will do everything beneficial.
When asked about progress on lowering oil prices, he said that reducing oil prices must be done in accordance with global market price mechanisms. The government has implemented measures to control the "refining margin" and "marketing margin" to keep them within appropriate limits, helping to push prices down more than usual. Additionally, recent declines in global oil prices are a positive factor allowing the government to reflect costs and reduce domestic retail prices accordingly.
Reporters noted that at the end of the visit, Anutin and his team went to pay respects to sacred sites for auspiciousness, including the City Pillar Shrine of Chanthaburi and the Shrine of King Taksin the Great, before visiting Luang Pho Thong at the old hall of Wat Thong Thua. On this occasion, Phra Khru Charukemakorn V.D., D.Min., Chief Monk of Khlong Narai Subdistrict and abbot of Wat Thong Thua, graciously presented sacred objects. The “Phra Yod Thong” amulet. was given to Mr. Anutin for auspiciousness in welcoming the Thai New Year festival.
When asked why the Prime Minister prayed for such a long time and what he wished for the Thai people, the Prime Minister replied, “I wish happiness for all Thai people, peace for the world, and lower oil prices.”
