Poll Reveals Public Support for Energy Price Restructuring but Calls for Further Oil Tax Cuts

Suan Dusit Poll reveals that the public agrees with the energy price restructuring approach covering both oil and electricity as announced by the Prime Minister, believing it will successfully solve the energy crisis. However, they want the government to take action to further reduce oil taxes.

On 13 April 2026, reporters reported that Suan Dusit Poll of Suan Dusit University conducted a nationwide survey on "Government Response to the Energy Crisis" with 1,266 respondents (surveyed both online and in the field) between 7-10 April 2026. The survey results, published on 12 April 2026, showed that among the three approaches announced by the Prime Minister, 72.27% of respondents agreed most with the energy price restructuring plan covering both oil and electricity. Furthermore, 34.36% expected that these three approaches would successfully resolve the energy crisis (32.23% were unsure). Additionally, 76.07% wanted the government to implement further reductions in oil excise taxes.
