Anutin Opens Ang Thong’s Khao Suk Road Songkran Festival with Water Gun Ceremony Somsak Recites Poem Praising Efforts

Anutin led his wife and officials in a water gun salute to open the Songkran Festival at Khao Suk Road in Ang Thong. Somsak Prisanantakul recited a poem praising positive actions, saying every province has activities to attract tourists and urging Thai people to enjoy water play fully but without excess.

At 6:00 p.m. on 13 Apr 2026 GMT+7, at the activity plaza in front of Wat Lat Ped in Ang Thong province, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, accompanied by his wife Thananon Charnvirakul, presided over the opening ceremony of the Great Songkran Tradition at Khao Suk Road @Ang Thong. They arrived in a bronze Toyota Alphard with license plate 5 ขส 45. They were welcomed by Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Pradorn Prisanantakul, Ang Thong MP Karavee Prisanantakul, Somsak Prisanantakul, and Chart Thai Party leader Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn.

Upon arrival, the Prime Minister greeted attendees at the event. He then watched the Ruen Ru Dee Na Reu Mit performance. Pradorn gave a welcoming speech, during which he wished the Prime Minister strength and urged him to use all his wisdom to overcome the current situation and steadfastly support all Thai people nationwide.

He then shared a poem composed by Somsak Prisanantakul: “Speak and act, positive and clear, everywhere with half-priced benefits spreading far, reviving the economy, solving all problems in the land; Anutin and Bhumjaithai to be remembered.”

The Prime Minister then took the stage and told attendees that he felt honored and happy to join everyone in opening the Great Songkran Tradition at Khao Suk Road. He sent happiness and best wishes to all people of Ang Thong and their families. He noted that Songkran reflects the warmth of Thai family bonds, coinciding with Family Day and Senior Citizens Day. Songkran is also registered by UNESCO as cultural heritage. Many provinces have elevated their Songkran festivals to boost tourism. The Khao Suk Road event is part of the 'My Home Songkran: Thai Colors, Happiness Worldwide' campaign. He invited everyone to enjoy Songkran water play joyfully, creatively, politely, and respectfully, ensuring safety both in communities and on the roads. He urged citizens to drive cautiously, obey traffic laws, not drink and drive, and always wear seatbelts for their own and others’ safety. He wished everyone a happy Thai New Year before firing a water gun to officially open the event.

Afterward, Anutin and his wife performed a water pouring ceremony over Buddha statues from various temples in Ang Thong. They proceeded to Khao Suk Road, where the Prime Minister danced to music while walking and joined local people in water play. The atmosphere was lively and festive.
