'Sirikanya' admits the People's Party is preparing to change its party leader and secretary, awaiting clarity on the case involving 44 MPs. She boasts readiness to field a fully qualified candidate for the Bangkok governor seat, hinting the candidate is a well-known party insider.
On 14 April 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Bangpakok 9 International Hospital, Ms. Sirikanya Tansakun, Deputy Leader of the People's Party, revealed that the party's annual general meeting, held every April as required by law, will include key leadership changes such as the party secretary position. This follows the resignation of Mr. Sarayut Jailak from the secretary role, necessitating a new appointment. However, the party leader position awaits clarification from the case involving 44 MPs, pending the Supreme Court's ruling. Regarding this case, formerly involving the Move Forward Party, the legal team is currently requesting copies of court documents, which total around 1,000 pages—including evidence for each individual stored in three boxes—to study and prepare objections, as well as to request a stay of proceedings. It is expected that the court’s decision on whether to accept the case will take some time, unless the court processes the documents quickly, which could expedite acceptance. However, given the volume of documents, a rapid decision seems unlikely.
