Bangkok Returns the Sacred Buddha Sihing to Phuttha Monthon Pavilion After Songkran Water Blessing Ceremony

The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Bangkok conducted the ceremony to return the Buddha Sihing, the sacred Buddha image symbolizing the city, to the Phuttha Monthon Pavilion after allowing the public to pay respects and pour water for blessings to bring good fortune during the Songkran festival.

On 14 Apr 2026 at 15:00, Mr. Taiwut Khankaew, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Bangkok, presided over the ceremony to bring the Buddha Sihing down from the pavilion at Lan Khon Muang, Bangkok City Hall, Sao Ching Cha, Phra Nakhon district, and place it on a flower-adorned vehicle to return it to its shrine at the National Museum, Phra Nakhon.

At 16:00, Mr. Taiwut led executives, government officials, and relevant staff in a candlelight procession ceremony at Sala Samran Mukmat, officiated by Phra Maharajakhru Phithi Sri Wisutthikhun. Afterwards, the Buddha Sihing was enshrined at the Phuttha Monthon Pavilion of the National Museum, Phra Nakhon.

Bangkok annually brings the sacred Buddha Sihing out from the Phuttha Monthon Pavilion at the National Museum, Phra Nakhon, once a year to allow the public to pay respects and pour water for blessings during Songkran. This year, it was enshrined on the pavilion at Lan Khon Muang from 12 to 14 April 2026.
