Using Crisis as an Opportunity to Reach Net Zero Faster Than Planned, Anutin Emphasizes Thailands Readiness to Adapt

Prime Minister Anutin pointed out that the crisis can be used as an opportunity to reach Net Zero faster than the original target, declaring that Thailand is ready to adapt and seek alternative energy sources to ensure stability and prevent hardship for the people.


At 14:25 on 15 April 2026 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke at the Thai Khu Fah Building, Government House, following his participation in the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Plus Online Summit Leaders Meeting, held via remote conferencing (see also:Prime Minister joins AZEC Plus meeting to promote transition to clean energy and Net Zero,) at the invitation of Sanae Takaichi, Prime Minister of Japan and chair of the meeting. He delivered a three-minute speech on behalf of Thailand, highlighting the collective efforts of countries to achieve the goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions, with all nations addressing the current energy challenges.

The Prime Minister further stated, Thailand addressed energy issues by emphasizing the need to restructure domestic energy use to ensure security and prevent public hardship. Thailand views the current crisis not only as a challenge but also as an opportunity to reach Net Zero Emissions faster than planned. We will not give up despite any obstacles. Thailand is ready to adapt and pursue various alternative energy sources to maintain continuity, in accordance with the United Nations charter. .
