
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul emphasized that Thailand has not opened the Chanthaburi-Trat border checkpoint and it is not yet time to do so. He stated there have been no diplomatic discussions and that if relations are to be restored, they must start anew.
At 14:25 on 15 Apr 2026 GMT+7 Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, gave an interview at the Government House, addressing Cambodia's request to open the border checkpoints in Trat and Chanthaburi provinces. He said, there have been no scheduled talks and no reports received on this matter. Furthermore, there is nothing to report at this time. He reiterated that the checkpoints remain closed and it is not yet time to open them.
When asked if Cambodia's coordination would have to go through diplomatic channels, Anutin responded, currently, there is no diplomatic engagement, only embassy staff on duty. Everything must begin with procedures, and before progressing further, the relationship must be restored. He stressed that no talks have reached that stage yet. .
