He praised the officials for their timely fire control efforts. Meanwhile, the Nong Chang district office warned the homeowner for burning leaf debris that caused the fire to spread.
On 15 April 2026, Mr. Je Set Thaiset, Deputy Minister of Interior, visited Village No. 4, Ban Thung Makham Wan, Nong Nang Nuan Subdistrict, Nong Chang District, Uthai Thani Province. The fire incident was reported around the same time he was chairing the Songkran Festival opening ceremony at Thap Than Municipality, Thap Than District, Uthai Thani. The visit included Lieutenant Commander Chayaphol Akkarajirakul, Nong Chang District Chief; Mr. Amnat Phetroj, Village Headman of Village No. 4; Mr. Rapeerat Thirakarn, Village Headman of Village No. 3; Mr. Chatmongkol Suwanseth, Head of Uthai Thani Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Team; and personnel from the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation units of Nong Nang Nuan Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Nong Chang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, and Nong Chang Municipality, operating three vehicles while managing the incident on site.
The fire originated from the homeowner secretly burning leaf debris near the garage. A breeze caused the burning leaves to ignite leaves on the roof, which then spread to dry straw in the adjacent rice field. A bystander noticed smoke and alerted the Village Headman of Village No. 3, who radioed the Uthai Thani Disaster Prevention and Mitigation team to respond. Within a short time, the fire was controlled. Damage assessment found two bicycles and parts of a corrugated metal roof damaged.
The Nong Chang district office warned the homeowner for secretly burning leaves, unaware that it would cause such a fire. They warned that any repeat offense would result in legal action. The homeowner admitted fault, expressed remorse, apologized for the incident, and promised not to repeat such behavior.
However, if citizens see smoke, accidents, or other hazards, they can report them via the emergency hotline 1784, available 24 hours a day, so that officials can respond promptly in coordination with relevant agencies.
