During Songkran 2026, Anutin checked fuel stocks and is confident there is enough to support travel with no signs of shortages. He pointed out that wise and economical energy use remains important and asked the public to use energy efficiently.
On the evening of 15 April 2026, reporters reported that Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, traveled to Sukhothai province to monitor fuel service conditions during the Songkran festival, a period of heavy travel. During this visit, he closely inspected local gas stations, checked fuel stock levels, distribution, and service readiness, and spoke with station operators and customers to hear firsthand reports from the field.
Anutin then stated that overall fuel service in Sukhothai is satisfactory. Gas stations can adequately meet public demand without any signs of shortages or unusually long queues.
“I want to assure everyone that during this Songkran festival, Thailand has enough fuel to support travel both outbound and returning. Everyone can travel back to their hometowns with peace of mind, without worrying about running out of fuel on the way.”
The Prime Minister added that the government has been closely monitoring the energy situation continuously, especially amid international fluctuations affecting global oil prices. The government has implemented measures in fuel reserve procurement, stock management, and price regulation to minimize impacts on the cost of living. Additionally, relevant agencies have been instructed to watch for behaviors that could disrupt distribution, such as hoarding or transport delays, and to expedite logistics to ensure fuel distribution reaches all areas.
. At the end, Anutin emphasized that although Thailand currently has sufficient fuel, wise and economical energy use remains essential. He asked the public to cooperate in using energy efficiently to reduce expenses and strengthen the country’s long-term energy security. .
