"Supamas" took an auspicious moment to pay respects to the sacred spirits at Government House for good fortune, revealing that three Bhumjaithai ministers are in discussions and ready to show spirit by resigning from their list MP positions.
At 09:30 on 16 April 2026 at Government House, Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, paid respects to the guardian spirits and sacred shrines of Government House for good fortune. She also spoke about framing the work of government media, explaining that there are four ministers attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, each assigned important but different tasks. Her responsibility is to oversee state media and all mass communication to convey government messages to the public, as well as supervise the Consumer Protection Board (CPB) to prevent exploitation of citizens, especially regarding product prices causing hardship during abnormal situations. The Prime Minister assigned this task to her.
Ms. Supamas stated she has continued work from the previous government, collaborating with the MCOT, Public Relations Department, and government publicity teams to act as a communication bridge, building public confidence—particularly during times of fake news. If anyone has concerns or doubts, or lacks information, they can return to government channels on television, radio, and online platforms to access accurate information.
Regarding oversight of the CPB amid lower-priced but poor-quality goods, Ms. Supamas said she has met with CPB management several times and today called a meeting to implement proactive measures to prevent exploitation. This is a morale boost the government offers to the people to alleviate concern. The Prime Minister prioritizes citizens, conducting organic field visits to raise awareness and urging businesses not to exploit consumers, aiming to restore order as quickly as possible.
When asked about list MPs from the Bhumjaithai Party who have become ministers needing to resign their MP seats, Ms. Supamas said it is appropriate for list MPs to step aside for those who can dedicate full time to parliamentary duties. Those in ministerial roles should allow full-time MPs to work in parliament, while constituency MPs generally cannot resign. Currently, three remain—Mr. Eknat Phompund, Minister of Energy; Mr. Warawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Justice; and herself. They are discussing this as they want to resign soon but are awaiting readiness and will announce in due course.
Asked about preparations for the Bangkok governor and council elections and candidate nominations, Ms. Supamas replied that they must first await party policy since the cabinet was just formed and there has been no discussion on this matter, so she cannot provide an answer yet.
When further asked about other parties having nominated candidates, Ms. Supamas said she has seen that other parties also seem uncertain about their candidate plans, including for the Bangkok governor. She believes any decisions will not be too late as the political system is ongoing, but they must wait to consult their party again, as actions must align with party policy.
