Sihasak Visits Oman, Praises Neutral Role and Negotiates Additional Oil Purchases

Sihasak visits Oman, commends its neutral stance that helps ease regional tensions, and engages in talks to purchase additional oil.

On 16 Apr 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that yesterday (15 Apr 2026 GMT+7), Mr. Sihasak Puangketkaew, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Mr. Salim bin Nasser bin Said Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals of the Sultanate of Oman, in Muscat during an official visit to Oman.

Both parties exchanged views on the regional energy situation, including security and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route in the global energy supply chain. The Thai side praised Oman's role in pursuing a neutral and constructive policy to reduce regional tensions.

On this occasion, Thailand emphasized its interest in securing additional energy supplies from Oman, having continuously imported crude oil from Oman since 1998. Both sides also agreed to promote cooperation in energy investment, especially clean energy, under the Oman Vision 2040 plan.
