Biography of Pongsakorn Arnanopaporn, former multiple-term MP for Khon Kaen and former Deputy Minister of Education, set to be promoted as a party-list MP for Bhumjaithai Party replacing Supamas who resigned.

On 16 April 2026, after Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, submitted a letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives resigning from her position as a party-list MP for the Bhumjaithai Party effective 16 April 2026, reporters noted that Mr. Pongsakorn Arnanopaporn, ranked 23rd on the party-list of Bhumjaithai Party, will be promoted to replace her.

Biography of Pongsakorn Arnanopaporn

Mr. Pongsakorn was born on 29 May 1961 in Nong Mek Subdistrict, Nong Song Hong District, Khon Kaen Province. He is currently 64 years old. He completed secondary education at Khon Kaen Wittayayon School, earned a bachelor's degree in management administration from Kasem Bundit University, a Bachelor of Political Science from Ramkhamhaeng University, a Master of Arts and an honorary Master of Arts from Ramkhamhaeng University, a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science from Ramkhamhaeng University, and an honorary doctorate in Management from Loei Rajabhat University.

Mr. Pongsakorn Arnanopaporn is a former multiple-term MP for Khon Kaen and served as Deputy Minister of Education during the Samak Sundaravej government.

On 30 November 2020, Mr. Pongsakorn submitted his resignation from the Pheu Thai Party along with Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, Mr. Phokin Pholkul, and Mr. Watthana Muangsuk. In 2021, he joined the Thai Sang Thai Party led by Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, where he served as Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee.

In 2022, Mr. Pongsakorn returned to work with the Pheu Thai Party. In 2023, he was appointed Assistant Minister attached to the Ministry of Transport. Later, in the government of Paetongtarn Shinawatra, he was appointed Assistant Minister attached to the Ministry of Commerce (under Minister Pichai Naripthaphan).

In the 2026 election, Mr. Pongsakorn decided to move from Pheu Thai Party to Bhumjaithai Party, nominating his daughter, Ms. Sorasanan Arnanopaporn, former MP for Khon Kaen, to run in constituency 9 (Waeng Yai, Waeng Noi, and Phon districts) and his son, Mr. Patcharakorn Arnanopaporn, to run in constituency 10 (Nong Song Hong, Phuean Noi, and Non Sila districts). Mr. Pongsakorn himself is listed at number 23 on the Bhumjaithai Party's party-list.
