Chetwan denies allegations of accepting private funds while advocating to convert Thupatemee Golf Course into a public park, expressing concern about distorted motives and the use of demeaning, defamatory language.
On 17 April 2026, Mr. Chetwan Tueprakhon, MP for Pathum Thani from the People's Party, posted a response on his Facebook to those accusing him of receiving private money to push for converting Thupatemee Golf Course into a public park, saying it is too easy to point fingers and accuse someone of "taking money" when what he is trying to do causes some to lose benefits.
Mr. Chetwan confirmed that the proposal to "convert Thupatemee Golf Course into a public park," which he is promoting, surprisingly got linked to a private golf course. "They claim I am doing this because I received money from that private golf course, implying that if this is no longer a golf course, more people will go to play at that private course," he said.
He added that such accusations amount to "defamation" and "demeaning" what others are trying to do, which risks diverting the discussion away from rational debate about why there should be a military golf course and whether a large plot of land in the city center should be used for other purposes, including which benefits the public more between a golf course and a public park.
Mr. Chetwan firmly stated that he has never accepted money to advocate on this issue, adding that if taking money were that easy, the opposing side would have simply outbid him financially to stop him from pursuing this matter.
