“Noona” Declines to Comment on Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai Merger, Encourages Government to Overcome Challenges

Noona Kanjana emphasized that the Chartthaipattana Party and Bhumjaithai Party are essentially one. She declined to comment on whether the parties would merge, saying that is a matter for the future. She encouraged the government to overcome obstacles and expressed confidence that it is open-minded and listens to suggestions from many sides, and is not narrow-minded.

At 10:55 a.m. on 18 April 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Kanjana Silpa-archa, leader of the Chartthaipattana Party (CTP) gave another interview following the annual general meeting of the Chartthaipattana Party at Songphanburi Hotel, Mueang District, Suphanburi Province, regarding the party’s political activities to maintain its voter base. She said the Chartthaipattana Party still has offices, representatives, and party executives, even though it currently has no members of parliament (MPs). Former MPs who moved to the Bhumjaithai Party are considered part of the same entity. People in Suphanburi who have problems can bring them to Chartthaipattana because Mr. Somchai Sujit, head of the Chartthaipattana branch committee, is the father of Mr. Sorachad Sujit, MP for Suphanburi District 1 from Bhumjaithai, and Mr. Jongchai Tiangtham, a Chartthaipattana leader, is the father of Mr. Samekan Tiangtham, MP for Suphanburi District 4 from Bhumjaithai.

Chartthaipattana is the older generation party; consider whether the elders are more senior than their successors. The senior leaders of Chartthaipattana now are trusted to listen to the problems of Suphanburi’s people and pass them on to Bhumjaithai MPs who serve the area. They are essentially the same. Chartthaipattana even helps Bhumjaithai by listening to and addressing issues. Whether Bhumjaithai or Chartthaipattana currently, they share the same base and work together, originating from the same roots.

When asked whether the Election Commission’s conditions would require Chartthaipattana to field parliamentary candidates under its name next time, Ms. Kanjana said this must be considered later since that time has not yet come. A reporter pressed for clarification. Asked if there has been talk of Chartthaipattana dissolving and merging with Bhumjaithai in the future, Ms. Kanjana said that is a matter for the future and she would not comment today.

Regarding whether Chartthaipattana would maintain its base and continue field activities as usual, Ms. Kanjana said, as stated, they share the same base. Therefore, they will do everything possible. Mr. Warawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry; Mr. Sorachad, Mr. Samekan, and Mr. Praphat Phothasuthon, MP for Suphanburi District 5 from Bhumjaithai; and Mr. Nopadol Matsri, former MP for Suphanburi District 3, still have opportunities to serve the people so that everyone who came from Chartthaipattana can continue to work fully for the public.

Confident the government is open-minded and encouraging it to overcome obstacles

In addition, Ms. Kanjana spoke about the current government, saying the government faces problems that need solving and came into power during a time of war, which affects the people, including rising oil prices impacting living costs. She urged support for the government and believes it listens to the people's issues and is open to suggestions from many parties. The government will not be narrow-minded.

This is evident from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supachai Suthamphan inviting people from opposition parties or other parties to help form teams to solve problems for the people, without discrimination by party. This is a positive sign that the government is open to feedback and brings various sectors together to help solve problems for the people. She offered encouragement to the government in its work and to the public in overcoming current challenges. Even during COVID-19, we got through it. We must get through this situation as well. War does not last forever; it will end eventually, and oil prices will adjust downward. .
