Deputy Ministers of Interior Jeset and Warasit led a delegation to bless travelers departing for the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the government's coordination to enhance convenience.
At 09:10 on 18 April 2026, Mr. Jeset Thaiset, Deputy Minister of Interior, presided over the blessing ceremony for pilgrims embarking on the 2026 Hajj at the multipurpose hall of Hat Yai Airport, Khlong Hoi Khong District, Songkhla Province. He was accompanied by Mr. Warasit Liangprasit, Deputy Minister of Interior, along with Mr. Chaiwat Chuenkosum, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior; Mr. Rattasart Chitchu, Governor of Songkhla; the Deputy Governor of Songkhla; heads of central and regional government agencies; district chiefs; Mr. Sakariya Bilsala, Chairman of the Songkhla Provincial Islamic Committee; and the pilgrim community.
Mr. Jeset stated that embarking on the sacred journey for the 2026 Hajj ceremony in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, today holds three proud core meanings.
First, “unity as one” because the Hajj is the greatest gathering of faith for humanity. He commended everyone's determination to fulfill their religious duties.
Second, the role as “ambassadors of peace,” where each pilgrim represents Thailand on the global stage. He encouraged them to exemplify the dignified identity of Thai Muslims—kind-hearted and peace-loving—to foster goodwill among Muslims worldwide.
Third, “cooperation and support.” On behalf of the government and relevant agencies, there is a commitment to continuously develop Hajj affairs by improving service quality while fairly controlling costs to expand opportunities for more Muslims to perform the pilgrimage.
“The government has proactively coordinated and negotiated closely with Saudi authorities and service providers during the Hajj season to enhance services and reduce various costs. Regarding travel, negotiations with leading airlines such as Thai Airways, Qatar Airways, and Emirates have managed fares to reasonable levels, while upgrading baggage allowances and in-flight meals. For accommodations, the Mashariq company has been tasked with raising standards of the tents in Mina, improving air conditioning and hygiene systems to ensure pilgrims can perform their religious duties comfortably.”
Mr. Jeset added that transparency is essential, with preparations to refund over 62 million baht in surplus funds from services and fare differences to pilgrims from the 2025 Hajj. Additionally, convenience centers have been established at Hat Yai and Suvarnabhumi airports to assist and support pilgrims at every step—from check-in and baggage handling to immigration and security. The government stands alongside all pilgrims to ensure this journey of faith is conducted with dignity and joy.
“Finally, I offer my blessings and encouragement to all travelers. May you complete a perfect Hajj (Hajj Mabroor), fulfill your religious duties in full, enjoy robust health, and receive peace, mercy, safety, and prosperity from Allah for you and your families.”
