The Election Commission has ordered the dismissal of the complaint against Wathana Changlao, Chief of Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organization, after investigation found no evidence confirming a breach of local election laws.
At 10:30 a.m. on 18 April 2026, the website of the Election Commission (EC) published EC ruling No. 792/2568 dated 16 December 2025 regarding the election of the Chief of Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organization. It stated that following the Khon Kaen EC Director's announcement of the election for the position on 1 November 2024, the EC received a complaint alleging that Wathana Changlao the candidate for Chief of Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organization, candidate number 1, violated Section 65 (1) of the Local Council or Local Executive Election Act. The EC considered the investigation report along with other related evidence for review.
Upon examining the bank account records of the first accused, no transfers to the fourth accused were found. Checking the mobile phone usage history of the first accused showed no contact with the fourth accused. Additionally, fingerprint analysis on banknote number 1 ง 6578247 detected no latent fingerprints or palm prints. Witnesses testified consistently that they never saw the fourth accused campaigning for the first accused or heard of the fourth accused giving money to voters to induce them to vote for the first accused. Furthermore, no other evidence confirmed any violation of the law as alleged.
The facts do not support that the first accused committed, supported, or was complicit with the third and fourth accused in violating Section 65 (1) of the Local Council or Local Executive Election Act B.E. 2562 (2019). Therefore, the complaint is ordered dismissed. .
