Wisut, a Pheu Thai MP, urged the Prime Minister to issue measures to alleviate the cost of living and to expedite the 'Khon La Khrueng Plus' program to stimulate the economy. He also extended encouragement to the Cabinet to overcome the crisis, asserting that dedicating oneself wholeheartedly with honesty and integrity is essential for the nation's safety.
18 Apr 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Wisut Chainarun, a party-list member of parliament (MP) for the Pheu Thai Party, said that during his field visits over the festival period, Songkran 2026, he expressed concern about the sluggish economy, noting that roads were mostly empty, with crowds only in certain activity areas. Overall, the public was less lively than in previous Songkran festivals due to economic impacts from the Middle East conflict. Although a ceasefire was in place, prices of many goods had risen sharply. Contractors were reluctant to take on work because of high fuel costs, and some companies had to lay off workers.
Mr. Wisut went on to say, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul must urgently address cost of living issues. There must be programs to increase public income, such as quickly implementing the 'Khon La Khrueng Plus' scheme. If borrowing funds is necessary to stimulate the economy and spending, it should be done, as farmers are facing significant difficulties. He added that MPs' reflections during parliamentary discussions should be given importance by the Prime Minister, as these voices represent the people's concerns through their representatives. Solving these issues truly means solving the people's problems. He also noted specific problems such as dairy farmers unable to sell milk, which could lead to protests if hardships continue. Currently, prices of various goods like fertilizer are rising, while agricultural product prices remain low, causing income to fall short of expenses.
He offered encouragement to the Prime Minister and all Cabinet members to work diligently to overcome this crisis. He also urged the government and ministers from all parties to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly, working with honesty and integrity, assuring that the nation will be safe. He warned that without sincerity and clean hands, the country will collapse. Any program launched must truly benefit the public, and officials should not focus on personal gain from such programs. Only then can the country move forward through the crisis. .
