Counting down to Thaksin Shinawatra's parole on 11 May, Kor Kaew leads a team distributing 500 pairs of lottery tickets every Sunday to Red Shirt supporters outside Klong Prem Central Prison, honoring him as a figure long respected and trusted in politics.
At 11:00 a.m. on 19 April 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Kor Kaew Pikulthong, deputy leader of the Pheu Thai Party, along with Mr. Phiphat Chai Paiboon, a former UDD leader, came to distribute 100 pairs of government lottery tickets to Red Shirt supporters gathering to eat outside the prison and show encouragement. For Thaksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister, the atmosphere outside Klong Prem Central Prison was lively, with Red Shirt supporters queuing orderly to receive lottery tickets. The team on stage instructed that each person receive only one pair to ensure everyone could get some.
Kor Kaew revealed that he has always respected and trusted Thaksin throughout his political path, citing his accomplishments in creating opportunities and hope for many Thais, including "Providing access to healthcare" through the 30 Baht Universal Healthcare Scheme, which over 20 years has saved hundreds of thousands of Thai lives. "Providing access to funding sources" to support small businesses or start personal ventures, such as village funds and OTOP projects. "Providing Thai children access to education" both domestically and abroad through the 'One Scholarship per District' program or scholarships funded by the legal lottery. "Giving happiness and hope to the Thai people" by developing the country to nearly become Asia's fifth tiger, as well as "Restoring dignity" to ordinary citizens through civil service reforms, making officials serve the public efficiently so people no longer have to beg anyone when accessing basic government services. There are many other achievements that could be endlessly recounted.
He added that over 20 years, no one has matched Thaksin's vision or accomplishments. In less than a month, on 11 May, Thaksin is expected to receive parole. It is believed many people will come to welcome him. Every Sunday since his imprisonment, activities to visit him outside the prison have drawn continuous support from many supporters. He expressed gratitude to everyone on this occasion.
"During these final four weeks, I want to repay the supporters who visit by offering a small hope through distributing lottery tickets. Even if it's a small hope, as long as hope remains, it will provide strength to many lives. On 19 April 2026, 100 pairs of lottery tickets will be given; on 26 April, another 100 pairs; on 3 May, 100 pairs; and on 10 May, 200 pairs."
