SCG Ship Leaves Strait of Hormuz After Sihasak Requests Oman to Coordinate with Iran

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that the SCG ship has departed the Strait of Hormuz after Deputy Prime Minister Sihasak requested Oman to coordinate with Iran to assist the Thai ships still stranded there.

On 19 April 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that following Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Puangketkaew's official visit to Oman from 15 to 17 April 2026 to strengthen Thai-Omani relations, he requested Oman to further coordinate with Iran regarding assistance for the Thai ships still stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.

Recently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received notification from the management of The Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCG) that one of their two ships, for which the Ministry had previously coordinated assistance with Iranian authorities, has now departed the Strait of Hormuz. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to monitor and provide updates as the vessel travels to Thailand, as well as continue efforts to assist the Thai ships still stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
