New Thai National Flag Raised at Chanthaburi Border Navy Vows Immediate Response to Sovereignty Violations

The Navy revealed that the Special Task Force in Chanthaburi continues to control the border area. Regarding the missing national flag, an investigation is underway, and a new flag has been raised to replace it. The Navy stressed that if any sovereignty violations are detected, they are ready to escalate their response immediately. Meanwhile, Cambodian authorities deny any involvement.

In the evening of 20 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiphan, Navy spokesperson, confirmed that the report of the Thai national flag missing from the U-shaped flagpole area is true. The incident occurred on 18 Apr 2026 GMT+7 at the Thailand-Cambodia border near Ban Phak Kad, Pong Nam Ron district, Chanthaburi province, where a natural stream clearly marks the border between the two countries.

At that time, local units immediately raised a new flag to replace the missing one after the incident was discovered. They also increased patrols along the border road and installed additional concertina wire at vulnerable points. Meanwhile, a senior Cambodian military officer denied any involvement, and the Chanthaburi Marine Task Force is continuing to investigate and gather evidence to identify those responsible.

However, the Navy spokesperson reaffirmed that if any encroachment on sovereignty by opposing forces is detected, appropriate and decisive countermeasures will be taken. .
