Anutin reveals that Wang Yi will visit Thailand to request increased purchases. The first economic cabinet meeting is scheduled for Monday, 27 April. He defers questions about the 500 billion baht loan decree to Ekniti.
At 12:50 p.m. on 21 April 2026 at Government House, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke about Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's official visit to Thailand at the end of April. He said the visit has two purposes: a personal matter and discussions between familiar parties. The focus between Thailand and China is cooperation. We may ask China to consider purchasing more agricultural products from us, including rice and fruit, as well as increasing investment and technological support. The talks will be open.
Economic cabinet meeting this Monday.
The Prime Minister also said that on Monday, 27 April, there will be an economic cabinet meeting, which will be held every Monday. Representatives from three private sector institutions—the Thai Bankers' Association, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and the Federation of Thai Industries—will be invited. The first meeting will discuss all matters, including economic stimulus and government policies presented to Parliament. When asked specifically about the Thai Chuey Thai Plus program, Anutin confirmed it would be discussed. When asked about clarity on a value-added tax increase, he listened but did not respond.
When asked about questions regarding the 500 billion baht loan decree, Anutin replied, “We will discuss it. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas will provide explanations as he has all the information.” In principle, anything beneficial and able to stimulate the economy by injecting money into the system for people to spend is something the government intends to support.
