On 21 April 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri spoke at the Government House regarding Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul's plan to chair a committee for disaster prevention in Northern Thailand. He stated this is a directive from the Prime Minister. Regarding operational steps, the secretariat will propose a structure detailing involved agencies, which is expected to be completed today. This initiative had been previously undertaken, but moving forward, there will be a stronger focus on ensuring actions effectively alleviate and solve the problem.
