Democrat Party Follows Saksayam Case, Emphasizes Constitutional Court Rulings Bind All Organizations

Satit revealed that the Democrat Party is closely monitoring the "Saksayam" case after the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) dismissed the petition. He emphasized that the Constitutional Court's rulings are binding on all organizations and that the party is awaiting its legal team's summary to decide on further action.

On 21 April 2026, Mr. Satit Wongnongtoey, Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, disclosed after a meeting of the party's Members of Parliament (MPs) that the MPs discussed various national events. Among public interest topics was the case in which the NACC decided to dismiss a petition. Mr. Saksayam Chidchob, former Minister of Transport, was involved in a case related to a company that may have had a conflict of interest issue.

The NACC's dismissal of the petition contradicts the Constitutional Court's ruling on the same matter. The Court previously ruled that Mr. Saksayam lacked the qualifications to be a minister, demonstrating irregularities in his financial transactions. The NACC's dismissal, which conflicts with the Court's decision, raises questions about possible suspicious aspects in this dismissal.

Mr. Satit added that the meeting involved extensive discussion along two lines: questioning the NACC's decision which opposes the Constitutional Court's ruling—given that the constitution requires the Court's decisions to bind all organizations—and focusing on the petition's detailed issues, especially since the NACC dismissed it despite concerns about conflict of interest involving ministerial qualifications.

The Democrat Party MPs agreed to instruct the party's legal team to gather all details of the case from the beginning and provide a summary within one week. This will allow the MPs to determine the party's stance on whether to pursue legal action, either against the NACC itself or Mr. Saksayam.

The party's main legal working group will review all detailed information again. It affirmed that the Democrat Party, as a party committed to honest politics, will act if any issues arise that concern public interest, politics lacking integrity, or suspected corruption. It is the party's duty as the opposition and political watchdog to proceed accordingly. Satit stressed that the party is not ignoring this matter and urged the public to follow how the legal team will advise the MPs on possible future actions.
