
Lieutenant General Adul, Minister of Defense, together with Sabida, Minister of Culture, joined a worship ceremony at the Ta Khwai Castle Hero Monument in Surin to honor the brave heroes who defended Thailand's sovereignty and land.
At 09:00 on 22 April 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defense, along with Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture, Mr. Jamroen Wanphet, Governor of Surin Province, Major General Sompop Pharawech, Deputy Commander of the 2nd Army Region, and Major General Boonserm Boonbamrung, Commander of the Suranaree Task Force, jointly laid a wreath at the Ta Khwai Castle Hero Monument in Bak Dai Subdistrict, Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province. The ceremony honored and commemorated the sacrifice of soldiers who gave their lives defending Thai soil during past conflicts.
The main highlight today was the grand worship and dance ceremony, honoring the Thai Protector Monument at Ta Khwai Castle, marking the first event since the end of hostilities when the Thai side successfully secured stability in the area. The Bak Dai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, together with Phanom Dong Rak District, organized this event to revive traditions and boost community morale. The atmosphere was vibrant and spectacular, featuring over 200 dancers wearing beautiful traditional costumes performing the worship dance in unison, observed by government officials, relatives of the heroes, and many local residents.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Adul said this event holds great significance for the people of Surin as it demonstrates that Ta Khwai Castle is a precious heritage on Thai soil. Local residents of Bak Dai Subdistrict unanimously expressed their joy and pride at being able to return to perform the offering dance and experience the monument closely once again, affirming with pride that this is Thai land safeguarded by heroes who sacrificed their lives for future generations.
However, today’s ceremony was not only a merit-making dedication for the deceased but also a declaration of strength and confidence in upholding sovereignty, alongside promoting local culture to remain integral to Thailand’s heritage.
