Sihasak Discusses with Myanmar President, Agrees on Multi-Faceted Cooperation and Enhancing Cross-Border Issue Resolution

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak held talks with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing, reaching agreement on cooperation across several fields and advancing efforts to address cross-border issues, emphasizing Thailand's support for sustainable peace in Myanmar.


On 22 Apr 2026 GMT+7, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Mr. Sihasak Puangketkaew, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, paid a courtesy visit to Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, President of Myanmar, in Naypyidaw during his visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

(Note: this is a connecting word, no translation needed) Both parties agreed to enhance cooperation in border security, cross-border trade, investment, energy security, and development cooperation, as well as to elevate joint efforts to resolve cross-border problems such as drug trafficking, online crime, transboundary haze pollution, and river pollution.

At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister reaffirmed Thailand's role in bridging Myanmar with ASEAN and its support for achieving sustainable peace in Myanmar.
