Erawan National Park Reopens for Tourism and Camping After Wildfire and Haze Subside

The government deputy spokesperson revealed that Erawan National Park in Kanchanaburi Province has reopened for tourism and camping after wildfires and haze subsided, and air quality returned to normal.

23 April 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Lalida Pertvivattana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, announced that Erawan National Park in Kanchanaburi Province officially reopened for tourism and camping within the park starting 22 April 2026, following the easing of wildfires and haze in the area and the restoration of normal air quality.

Previously, Erawan National Park had temporarily closed to tourists on 21 April 2026 due to wildfires and PM2.5 levels that adversely affected health, with measurements reaching as high as 42.9 micrograms per cubic meter. However, after closely monitoring and assessing the situation, the wildfires have steadily subsided and air quality has become safe, leading to an order to reopen the park under the authority of the National Park Act, B.E. 2562 (2019).

The reopening aims to revive tourism atmospheres while ensuring the safety of visitors and staff, as well as stimulating the local economy and income for surrounding communities. “The government emphasizes balanced management between natural resource conservation and local economic development. Once the situation improves, it will promptly reopen the area appropriately so the public and tourists can safely benefit from it,” she said.
