The Ministry of Interior is preparing for the nationwide ceremony of offering sandalwood flowers by the public during the royal cremation ceremony of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother.
On 23 Apr 2026, Mr. Atsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, revealed preparations for organizing the sandalwood flower offering ceremony by the public across all 76 provinces, in accordance with the resolution from the first meeting in 2026 of the Royal Cremation Ceremony Committee for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, held on Saturday, 21 Mar 2026, ensuring the event proceeds smoothly and with due honor.
“Regarding the sandalwood flower offering ceremony by the public in the regions, provinces and districts will invite government agencies, private sector, students, university students, and volunteer citizens to collectively create sandalwood flowers for the ceremony. Each province will select one representative bouquet to bring to Bangkok to be offered at the Royal Crematorium Hall in Sanam Luang on the actual cremation day and time. On that day, the ceremony will be held locally in provinces and districts in two sessions: the first at 09:00 and the second from 17:30 to 22:00 at designated flower offering booth locations. The capital district of each province and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya district will coordinate with their provinces for the ceremony, while other districts will organize it at locations they designate.”
The Permanent Secretary added that in organizing the sandalwood flower offering ceremony, provinces and districts will collaborate with partners including educational institutions, associations, and local cultural clubs to present celebratory performances on the ceremony day. Additionally, exhibitions showcasing the Queen’s biography and royal duties relevant to each province and district will be displayed at the flower offering booths for one month, to collectively commemorate the graciousness of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, “The Mother of the Land,” by all Thai people.
