Pheu Thai held its annual general meeting, expanded the executive committee, appointed “Ink” and “Ajarn Chen” as advisors, while “Natthida,” daughter of Somsak, became deputy leader. Mr. Prasert firmly retained the secretary-general position, and Mr. Chulanat declared Pheu Thai must continue addressing the people's problems.
On 24 Apr 2026 at 09:45 GMT+7, at Pheu Thai Party headquarters, reporters noted the party held its 2026 annual general meeting. A key agenda was electing a new executive committee to fill vacancies from resignations during elections. Party leaders attended in full, including Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, former prime minister and head of the Pheu Thai family; Mr. Chulanat Amornwiwat, Minister of Labor and party leader; Mr. Prasert Chantraruangthong, Minister of Education and party secretary-general; Mrs. Monporn Charoensri, deputy party leader; and Mr. Poomtham Vejchayachai, a senior party figure.
At 11:40 GMT+7, Mr. Chulanat stated after the meeting that today's session was to appoint additional executive committee members to complete the full 29-person body as per party regulations, and to prepare legally for possible by-elections. Pheu Thai has long been a key player in Thai politics, steadfastly committed to serving the people. Although the 8 Feb election results fell short of expectations, the party still secured 74 MPs—enough to advance its policies. Given its MPs and entire structure, the party remains ready to work hard for the public. Pheu Thai must persist to address citizens' hardships and adapt to the rapidly changing global environment. The past two months have been a time for self-reflection, listening to supporters, members, and critics alike. The party has learned from mistakes to enable transformation. While some truths may be unpalatable, they are necessary for progress. Today marks an important adjustment to strengthen Pheu Thai's future.
Mr. Chulanat added that beyond the legally mandated executive committee, the party leader has the authority to appoint advisors to help strategize and formulate policies to solve public issues. The advisory panel includes Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, former prime minister; Mr. Poomtham Vejchayachai, senior party leader; Dr. Prommin Lertsuridej, senior party figure; Mr. Yossanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation; Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives; and Mr. Thewan Liptapanlop. This new structure emerged from internal review aiming to build a strong yet flexible party. The party will not concede as long as the public places hope in it. Outsiders may see Pheu Thai as facing crisis or setbacks, but that is not a concern. The party will move forward driven by the people's hopes and aspirations. With the people's goals as its foundation, Pheu Thai’s mission is unending.
Reporters noted that the newly elected Pheu Thai executive committee added 13 members, mostly former committee members who had resigned during the election period.
