The Prachachon Party has reorganized its leadership after the Supreme Court decided not to suspend 10 MPs from their duties. "Head Teng" continues to lead the team, while Sarayuth has resigned following the election defeat.
On 24 April, reports emerged from the Prachachon Party after the Supreme Court accepted the petition in case 44 involving former MPs from the Move Forward Party regarding the proposed amendment to Section 112. The court did not order the suspension of the 10 current Prachachon MPs, resulting in a lively atmosphere within the party and celebrations over the ruling.
An internal party source revealed that although the party was somewhat surprised by the court’s decision, it had thoroughly prepared in advance. The legal and communications teams developed four different statements to address potential scenarios arising from the court’s ruling, ensuring readiness to handle any outcome and allowing the party’s work to continue smoothly.
Regarding the new executive committee lineup replacing MPs entangled in legal cases, it is now quite clear that the party will not change key personnel, especially the party leader position. Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut will continue as leader, dispelling earlier rumors that Mr. Veerayut Kanchuchat might be appointed instead to avoid legal risks.
However, the party secretary position will definitely change. Mr. Sarayuth Jailak, the current party secretary, has decided to resign to take responsibility for his prior statement that he would step down if the party lost the election. This vacates the party secretary role, and the party will select a suitable replacement at the upcoming general meeting to continue driving the party’s mission as the opposition leader.
