Progressive Movement Organizes WEPLA Batch 2 to Empower Women in Politics on 2 May

The Progressive Movement Foundation announced it will hold the WEPLA Open House event on 2 May, revealing an intensive women's political leadership curriculum. Alumni will share real experiences to support women's advancement into political arenas before registration closes on 9 May.

On 24 April 2026, the Progressive Movement Foundation invited media to the WEPLA Open House to introduce the “Women's Empowerment and Political Leadership Academy” (WEPLA) course, now entering its second batch. The event will take place on Saturday, 2 May 2026, at Yellow Lane, Ariy, in the White Box room.

Ms. Kulthida Rungreungkiet, Director of the Progressive Movement Foundation and one of WEPLA's curriculum designers, said the women's political leadership course aims to encourage more women to enter Thailand’s political and policy spaces. The goal is to increase women's parliamentary representation to match the global average, ensuring policy decisions, legislation, and budget allocations genuinely reflect the concerns of all societal groups.

At the WEPLA Open House, initial details of the four learning modules running from June to October 2026 will be revealed. These cover public policy analysis, effective communication and negotiation, and grassroots work, all designed to enhance essential knowledge and skills while building women's confidence to become decision-makers at local and national policy levels.

A key highlight is the sharing session by WEPLA Batch 1 alumni from various fields, who will discuss their inspirations and how the women's political leadership course helped them apply what they learned to create real change. The event will conclude with a panel discussing the importance of increasing women and diverse representatives in parliament, looking beyond gender to ensure the legislature reflects societal grievances and addresses issues comprehensively.

The Progressive Movement Foundation invites media representatives to join the WEPLA Open House to help advance and communicate the necessity of increasing women's political representation—a key to improving Thai society. The Open House will accept only 60 participants.

The second batch of the women's political leadership course invites women and those who identify as women interested in politics or public advocacy. Requirements include (1) at least three years of work experience, (2) not running for local or national elections in 2026, and (3) ability to attend all four course modules. Fifty participants will be accepted. Applications are open until 9 May 2026 at wepla.in.th.
