Cost of Living Relief Measures by the Anutin Government: Poll Finds Most Appropriate but State Welfare Card Increase Seen as Insufficient

A Nida Poll survey shows that most people consider several cost of living relief measures by the Anutin government to be appropriate, but view the increase in the state welfare card allowance from 300 to 400 baht as too small.


On 26 Apr 2026, the Nida Poll Center of the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) released results of a survey titled “Is the Cost of Living Relief Enough?” conducted from 20-21 Apr 2026. The survey involved 1,310 respondents nationwide, aged 18 and over, from all regions, education levels, occupations, and income groups. It gathered public opinions on government cost of living relief measures. When asked about these measures for the agricultural and transportation sectors under Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s administration, the findings showed:

1. The "Half-Interest Loan" program for the agricultural sector, with loans not exceeding 100,000 baht, where citizens pay 3% interest and the government pays 3%.

71.30% stated that it is appropriate.

14.43% stated it is insufficient.

8.09% stated it is excessive.

2. Fuel subsidies for minibus, passenger vans, and songthaew vehicles in Bangkok and surrounding provinces, a lump sum of 5,040 baht per vehicle, from 20 Apr to 31 May 2026.

68.78% stated that it is appropriate.

14.27% stated it is insufficient.

10.92% stated it is excessive.

3. Fuel subsidies for non-scheduled passenger transport vehicles, such as minibuses or vans, a lump sum of 3,600 baht per vehicle, from 20 Apr to 31 May 2026.
