A royal decree was issued transferring Commander Thanapong Polkanit, Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces Preparatory School, to a special operations officer position within the Royal Security Command, and conferring upon him the rank of Air Vice Marshal.
Reporters noted that the Royal Gazette website published a royal decree announcing the transfer of a commissioned officer to the Royal Household military service and granting him a military rank. The announcement dated 24 April 2026 contains the following details:
By royal command, under the authority of Section 15 of the 2017 Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, Sections 4 and 9 of the Royal Household Administration Act of 2017, Sections 10, 13, and 15 of the Royal Decree on Administration and Personnel Management of the Royal Household of 2017, and Section 5 of the Military Rank Act of 1936,
it is therefore graciously commanded to transfer Commander Thanapong Polkanit, Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces Preparatory School, National Defence Studies Institute, Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters (with the special commander rank), to the Royal Security Command, appointing him as a special operations officer in the Office of the Special Operations Officer to His Majesty the King at the Royal Security Command, with the rank of Air Vice Marshal, and granting him the rank of Air Vice Marshal.
This appointment is effective from 17 April 2026.
The announcement was made on 24 April 2026, the 11th year of the current reign.
