“Dom Som” Brings ‘Conquer Evil Spirit’ Amulet for the People’s Party - Oranges Presented to ‘Teng - Jon’ Elicit Laughter

Pichorn opened up about his role as secretary-general of the People’s Party, saying he does not feel pressured and is ready to do his best. Meanwhile, “Dom Som” brought the 'Conquer Evil Spirit' amulet for the people’s edition, and oranges in a box were presented to “Teng - Jon,” who found it amusing.

On 26 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Natthapong Rueangpanyawut, leader of the People’s Party, revealed following the party’s annual general meeting that the assembly approved Mr. Pichorn Chaowaphattanawong as the party’s secretary-general, Ms. Sutthawan Suban Na Ayutthaya, former MP of Nakhon Pathom, as an executive committee member, and Ms. Phakmon Noon-anant as the party’s spokesperson.

Mr. Pichorn, secretary-general of the People’s Party, said that as the new secretary-general, he will build upon the joint resolutions to make them a reality. He will focus on developing the party’s human resources across all components. Every task undertaken by the People’s Party will question how it benefits the people. Therefore, all party components—including MPs, provincial teams, and network teams—must work in harmony and be equipped with legal knowledge and parliamentary mechanisms to ensure seamless coordination inside and outside parliament. The aim is to win elections and ultimately solve problems for the people as an opposition party, using parliamentary mechanisms to promote and campaign for legal reforms. Thus, human resource development is essential across all party components.

Regarding the plan to select MP candidates more quickly to resolve qualification issues, Mr. Pichorn said that while the goal is what benefits the people, the method is another matter. The agreed approach is to have candidates who can be endorsed faster and who have stronger teams and local workforces to pave the way for the election.

When asked if he felt pressured by his role as secretary-general, which is considered the party’s brain, Mr. Pichorn said pressure is not the issue. Rather, since the party entrusted him, his duty is to drive the goals shared by the executive committee and party management, aligning all party components toward a common direction. He must manage under the state of legal warfare and the order not to suspend duties. He sees this as an opportunity in crisis to energize work through 10 MPs who were not ordered to suspend duties. Hence, pressure is not a concern; he will do his best.

Asked how he plans to lay the party’s internal foundations to avoid political conflicts and power struggles, Mr. Pichorn said it is necessary for all party components to understand the purpose of their union, which is to improve people’s lives and build a better Thailand. If everyone shares this goal, all obstacles and conflicts can be overcome.

After finishing his media interview, supporters of the People’s Party presented an amulet called the 'Conquer Evil Spirit for the People’s Version,' including its chant. They framed it and also presented a box containing oranges to Mr. Natthapong and Mr. Pichorn.

Reporters asked if the oranges in the clear box were like those in Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s office on the Thai Khu Fah building at the Government House. However, Mr. Natthapong did not answer, only smiling and laughing.
