
The Prachachart Party held its general meeting to enhance the role of women in the executive committee. Meanwhile, “Tawee” highlighted the strategy of placing the people at the center and announced a new party shirt color.
On 26 Apr 2026 GMT+7, a reporter from the Al-Imam Al-Nawawi Auditorium at the Islamic Science Faculty, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus, reported that Pol. Col. Tawee Sodsong, former Minister of Justice and leader of the Prachachart Party as well as a party-list MP, opened the 2026 first annual general meeting of the Prachachart Party and presided over the proceedings. Present were Mr. Sukarno Mata, Yala MP for constituency 2 and party secretary-general; Mr. Sulaiman Buneppina, Yala MP for constituency 1; Mr. Abdulayi Sameng, Yala MP for constituency 3; and Mr. Kamonsak Liwamo, Narathiwat MP for constituency 5. Also attending were the party’s executive committee members, former MPs from Pattani such as Associate Professor Dr. Rungrueng Pityasiri, head of the party’s economic team; Mr. Sommut Benjaluk, former Pattani MP; Mr. Kuheng Yawohasan, former Narathiwat MP; Assistant Professor Worawit Baru, former Pattani MP; as well as former party candidates including Mr. Arun Benjaluk and Mr. Ponrak Rakphol from the Ministry of Justice’s ministerial working group. More than 412 party members participated in the meeting.
Pol. Col. Tawee Sodsong, former Minister of Justice and leader of the Prachachart Party, told the media about the party’s direction and activities, emphasizing the changing political dynamics. He stated that true democracy does not end on election day but is about continuously improving the quality of life for the people.
“Political parties must adapt to societal changes. Democracy must be tangible and impact people’s daily lives. The Prachachart Party focuses on both parliamentary work and grassroots engagement, especially listening to the people’s voices to address issues precisely. Although the party holds only five parliamentary seats, it is committed to using all available political mechanisms to fight vigorously for policies promised to the public. We aim to solve quality-of-life issues in areas still facing economic disparity, security challenges, and notably education, where many children lack opportunities.”
The reporter added that today’s activity was the party’s first general meeting since the recent election, held to set the party’s future direction, strategy, and operations. It included assessing and analyzing the political situation and exchanging views among members present. The party’s executive committee was reshaped with an increased proportion of women, including Ms. Thananyarat Setthathirach, Ms. Laongdao Khamwiang, and Ms. Ralrasamee Rasmeejaturon. Additionally, the party changed its shirt color from navy blue to dark brown.
In the afternoon, a seminar titled "The Future Direction of the Prachachart Party in the Context of Politics in the Southern Border Provinces" was scheduled, hosted by Mr. Abdulrahman Maloh, the party’s deputy secretary-general. Mr. Wan Muhamad Nor Mata, Prime Minister’s Advisory Chairman, Prachachart Party Advisory Chairman, and former Speaker of the House, was set to deliver the closing remarks at 15:00.
