"Teng Natthapong" explained the issue regarding the change of the Prachachon Party's prospective Pattaya City mayoral candidate, saying the original candidate hesitated and eventually requested to withdraw, leading to the appointment of "Itthiwat" as the replacement. He emphasized that the party prioritizes voters above all.
26 Apr 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, party-list Member of Parliament and leader of the Prachachon Party, commented on the case where Ms. Nisamat Laoharattanahirun, the prospective Pattaya City mayoral candidate in Chonburi province, withdrew, saying Ms. Nisamat resigned due to personal reasons. The party has already selected a new candidate, who is Mr. Itthiwat Watthanastathon, who has been officially chosen. Meanwhile, the candidates for Bangkok governor and Bangkok council members will be announced in early May.
When asked if the mid-campaign candidate replacement seemed disrespectful or appeared as a trial, Mr. Natthapong replied, "What matters more is the candidate's commitment and stability. If the initial candidate hesitates and ultimately withdraws, the party must consider the voters and eligible electorate first. That is why we changed to a new candidate." .
