At 09:30 on 27 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, spoke at the Government House about the idea to promote a policy to reduce toll fees by the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) to no more than 50 baht across all routes. When asked when this would be implemented, he said, currently, no action has been taken; nothing at all. He then asked reporters where they got the news from, who spread it, saying he did not know and was completely unaware.
Reporters further asked about news that Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, would call an economic team meeting today. Phiphat denied knowing about it. When asked about plans to visit the South in May to follow up on the land bridge project, he said he needed to discuss ways to gather public opinion first and reiterated that no public consultation has taken place.
