Krawee, the government's whip chairman, is not worried about the opposition forming a shadow cabinet to scrutinize the government. He said he welcomes hearing opinions if the proposals are constructive but warned it might delay constitutional amendments. He urged focusing first on urgently solving the people's livelihood problems.
At 1:30 p.m. on 27 April 2026 at the parliament, Mr. Krawee Prisananantakul, Ang Thong MP from the Bhumjaithai Party and chairman of the government's coalition coordination committee (government whip), spoke about the opposition's plan to form a shadow cabinet to monitor government performance. He said it is the opposition's right and that it is good for them to have responsible people directly tracking each cabinet member's issues. The government welcomes constructive feedback; the prime minister and this cabinet are willing to listen and incorporate suggestions into policies. So far, the shadow cabinet's performance has not been seen, but he believes the public will benefit from having an additional body intensifying government scrutiny.
Mr. Krawee said regarding the opposition's call for constitutional amendments, discussions must occur between the government and parliament on which issues to amend and how. Currently, the government is focusing on solving the people's livelihood problems amid Thailand's economic crisis and the energy crisis caused by the Middle East war. He is not worried about progressing constitutional amendments following the referendum results, but whether sooner or later, the matter must be brought to parliamentary meetings. When the appropriate time to amend comes, they will decide which issues to address toward a new constitution, and the details will become clear then.
