“Mom Korn” acknowledges interest in running for Bangkok governor, awaiting talks with “Trinuch” and senior Palang Pracharath leaders; reveals Democrat Party has yet to make any official approach despite deal rumors.,
On 27 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Mom Luang Kornkasivat Kasemsri, deputy leader of the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP), spoke about rumors regarding his name as a prospective Bangkok governor candidate. He admitted personal interest in running and said this has been discussed within PPRP for some time, since after the general election. The party believes it should consider fielding a candidate to avoid missing opportunities, as the Bangkok governor election is a major and important political arena. However, he stressed the need to consult senior party members, especially Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, the party leader who has just returned from Japan, showing her due respect. A decision should be reached soon, and any nomination under the party’s name must be approved by the party’s executive committee.
When asked about reports that the Democrat Party (DP) is interested in approaching him as a candidate for Bangkok governor, Mom Luang Kornkasivat said that only outsiders wish for such discussions, but so far there has been no official approach from the DP. He emphasized that as a member of PPRP, he must respect his party first and decide accordingly whether to run for Bangkok governor or not.
