Yotsanan to Promote Circular Economy, Transform Burning into Energy to Create Sustainable Income for Farmers

Yotsanan is set to promote the circular economy by presenting a model for managing agricultural waste in the northern region, converting burning into energy to create sustainable income for farmers.

At 07:30 on 28 April 2026 at the Government House, Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, revealed that this afternoon he will present strategies to drive the Circular Economy at the Office of the Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Policy Council (HESRI). The presentation will focus on a model for managing agricultural waste in the northern region.

The ministry is striving to implement a fully circular system to convert materials that farmers previously burned into solar panels and various types of oil through collaboration with the private sector. This effort relies on HESRI technologies and innovations developed in-house, which are expected to concretely reduce farmers' expenses.

Regarding the agenda to be proposed to the Cabinet today from the ministry, Mr. Yotsanan stated that since this week is the final week of April, urgent matters must be submitted on schedule. Several topics are expected to be gradually introduced to the meeting, focusing on increasing income and addressing the cost of living issues for the public, with beneficial projects from various ministries being submitted simultaneously.

As for the ministry’s budget, it is expected to remain within the existing framework, as outlined by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anekniti Nitithanprapas, who set a budget control guideline of no more than 20% per ministry. Annual budget spending will be adjusted according to appropriateness, considering the difficulties faced by people in each area and project continuity. Additionally, Mr. Yotsanan plans to support the Wellness Economy alongside these efforts.

The circular economy is a concept of resource management aimed at maximizing benefits throughout production, usage, and reuse processes to reduce waste to zero (Zero Waste).
