Cabinet Approves 2570 Budget of 3.788 Trillion Baht, Slight 0.2% Increase

The Cabinet has approved the 2570 budget totaling 3.788 trillion baht, a slight increase of 0.2%, emphasizing budget use that is “targeted, precise, and responsive” to address the public’s hardships.

On 28 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Cabinet agreed on a 2570 fiscal year budget expenditure framework of 3,788,000 million baht. This is an increase of 7,400 million baht, or 0.2%, from the 2569 fiscal year budget of 3,780,600 million baht. This amount follows discussions among four agencies: the Budget Bureau, Ministry of Finance, National Economic and Social Development Council, and the Bank of Thailand on 22 Apr 2026 GMT+7, and aligns with the medium-term fiscal plan for 2570–2573 previously approved by the Cabinet.

The budget framework remains under fiscal discipline principles, including:

1) Net government revenue is estimated at 3,000,000 million baht, an increase of 79,400 million baht or 2.7% from the previous year.

2) The deficit budget policy is set at 788,000 million baht, a decrease of 72,000 million baht or 8.4% from 2569.

The Prime Minister's Office spokesperson stated that, given the limited budget increase, the Prime Minister has urged government agencies to prepare budgets efficiently, focusing on “targeted, precise, and responsive” use to resolve the public’s hardships.

Additionally, budget use must adhere to principles of cost-effectiveness, necessity, urgency, and appropriateness to the situation, including adopting zero-based budgeting concepts to maximize benefits. Consideration should also be given to alternative funding sources outside the budget, such as off-budget funds or alternative financing, for public investment projects to reduce the overall national budget burden.
