“Pai Lik” criticized Supachai over promoting durians sold at 100 baht, saying it qualifies as exaggeration and false information that distorts market prices and worsens farmers' difficulties. He called on the government to solve agricultural problems systematically and stop relying on influencers instead of real solutions.
At 10:00 a.m. on 29 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Pai Lik, Member of Parliament for Kamphaeng Phet and Secretary-General of the Kla Tham Party, posted on Facebook regarding Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supachai Suthammanoon and popular influencer Pimrypie jointly promoting durian sales online. He questioned whether durians sold at 100 baht each were real and said it amounts to exaggeration. Although sales may not have started, he said false information was already entered into computer systems.
The real cost that durian farmers want is around 130 to 150 baht per kilogram. Previously, durian production was divided between the Eastern and Southern regions, with harvests occurring at different times. However, due to changing weather patterns, both regions now produce at the same time, causing an oversupply of durians in the market.
The Prime Minister should review this data to make informed decisions, because what we want to avoid is farmers dumping durians on roads. What farmers definitely need is cheaper fertilizer. If fertilizer prices drop, we can compete internationally.
However, the point of this discussion is not really about durians. I want to question whether what the Deputy Prime Minister did together with the influencer was appropriate or justified. Did it create a new standard for durian prices? But when sales actually happened, it wasn’t like that. Don’t forget other agricultural products like sugarcane, rice, corn, cassava, and all fruits—consider the whole picture.
If the government cannot do anything now and has to rely on influencers, I think the idea is good, but the government should be able to do more than this. I support market management for agriculture or using multiple influencers to live-stream sales simultaneously. Another thing we tried before but lost momentum is having a Thai-owned platform, so we don’t have to rely on foreign ones. That would be best.
