House Speaker to Respond in Due Course on Issue of Supreme Court Reviewing NACCs Dismissal of Saksayam Case

Sophon remains noncommittal on forwarding the case to the Supreme Court to review the National Anti-Corruption Commission's dismissal of the false asset declaration complaint against Saksayam. He says he will respond when the time comes and insists his role is not merely that of a messenger.

On 29 Apr 2026 at 09:40 GMT+7 at the Parliament, Mr. Sophon Sarum, Speaker of the House of Representatives, spoke regarding opposition MPs and senators preparing to submit a request to the House Speaker to forward the matter to the Supreme Court Chief Justice to establish a committee to investigate the National Anti-Corruption Commission's handling of the dismissal of the false asset declaration complaint against Mr. Saksayam Chidchob, former Minister of Transport. He said he had only heard the news but had not yet received any formal submission. Addressing concerns that the Speaker might delay or refuse to forward the matter to the Supreme Court, he said such worries were speculation and asked that people wait until the proper time. He added that if the matter needed to be sent immediately, he would be like a postal worker delivering it, but he preferred to wait before responding. He affirmed his commitment to act fairly, avoiding the term "neutral," as neutrality depends on the judge’s perspective; if they like it, they call it neutral, if not, they say it isn't. Ultimately, reasonable people will be the ones to decide.
