Chaiyachonok views the dissatisfaction among MPs over committee chair quotas as normal, saying they must accept the situation and move forward because there are fewer positions than people. He acknowledges the 14 names released closely match the planned list but wants to wait for final confirmation tomorrow.
On 29 April 2026, Mr. Chaiyachonok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society and Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, addressed the issue of understanding the case where Mr. Natthachonn Srikoekuea, an MP from Songkhla representing Bhumjaithai Party, expressed dissatisfaction over the proportion of committee chairmanships and left the group chat. He said that with the increased number of MPs, it is natural for some to be disappointed, which happens in every cycle. However, he believes there are still many important positions, so they must manage the situation, accept it, and move forward.
When asked if this would cause a rift within the Bhumjaithai Party, Mr. Chaiyachonok said it depends on each MP's personality, but overall, most MPs understand the party's growth and changes. He sees that the party has been fair to all members, including both successful and unsuccessful candidates and others. He believes they have managed as best as possible and trusts most will understand. For those who feel unfairly treated, the party will try to talk to them, but if they still feel unfair, that is their right. As secretary-general, he can say on behalf of the entire management that they will do their best. When asked if anyone would be sent to mediate or clarify, he said there is no need to send anyone because they talk normally, and Bhumjaithai Party is not the type to avoid communication.
When asked if the secretary-general has spoken directly with the person involved, Mr. Chaiyachonok said he just learned about the issue and has not met him yet, but they will talk tomorrow. Regarding whether Mr. Natthachonn has any qualification problems, he said it is not that he lacks qualifications because there are many qualified people, but the positions are limited. As the party grows, positions remain limited, so they must find ways for everyone to understand. He said it is impossible to please everyone completely, but they will manage the situation. As he has said before, there are still many important political positions and opportunities available.
When asked if the list of 14 MPs released yesterday matches the preliminary considerations, Mr. Chaiyachonok admitted it is close, but the final decision will be made on 30 April. He expressed confusion about how the list was leaked but emphasized that this list is not yet 100% final, so there is still a chance for changes since it does not fully match the original plan.
