Piyawat expressed disappointment over the government's rejection to establish a special parliamentary committee to resolve crop pricing issues, calling it a shut door to the farmers' suffering. He affirmed Kla Tham Party's support for the committee's formation and stated that anyone blocking it is ignoring the farmers' hardships.
On 29 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Piyawat Kittithanesaworn, MP for Nakhon Nayok from the Kla Tham Party, commented on the government's vote against forming a special committee to study and find solutions to agricultural crop price problems. He called this outcome deeply disappointing, as farmers are currently facing low product prices, high production costs, and ineffective problem-solving measures.
Mr. Piyawat said the House of Representatives should serve as a platform to reflect the people's hardships, not block mechanisms that lead to solutions—especially special committees, which are vital tools for comprehensive study, investigation, and addressing root causes.
"Kla Tham Party was founded to serve the farmers. Therefore, we support the opposition's resolution to establish a special committee because farmers are truly suffering now, and this problem must be seriously addressed—not just superficially," Mr. Piyawat stated.
Mr. Piyawat noted that if the government has nothing to hide, it should not fear the formation of such a committee. The committee is not a forum to attack anyone but to seek the truth and solutions for the people. This rejection may cause society to question whether the government wants to avoid scrutiny on certain matters.
"Even though the majority voice has shut the door today, Kla Tham Party will not stop its duties. We will stand by the farmers and continue to raise the people's livelihood issues in parliament," Mr. Piyawat said.
