Government Assures Student Loan Borrowers After Discrepancies in GSB Connect App Debt Balances

The government reassures Student Loan Fund (GSB) borrowers not to worry after the GSB Connect application showed incorrect debt balances. It confirms that all borrowers’ loan records are fully and accurately recorded in the system with no data loss.

On 30 April 2026, Ms. Ploytale Laksameesangchan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, stated that following social media reports about outdated or inaccurate debt balances displayed on the GSB Connect application after repayments, which caused borrower concern and loss of confidence in their current debt information, the government has instructed the Student Loan Fund (GSB), a state agency under the Ministry of Finance, to promptly and carefully resolve the issue. They have also been directed to provide continuous updates to the public through official communication channels to restore borrower and public confidence as soon as possible.

Ms. Ploytale added that in response to the problem, the Student Loan Fund (GSB) has confirmed that all repayment transactions of every borrower have been fully and correctly recorded in the system with no losses. Borrowers can verify their past payment information via the GSB Connect app under the menu “Services” > “Other Transactions” > “Payment History,” which displays all payment details and can serve as official proof. The government assures borrowers that they will not lose any legal benefits due to this issue.

"The reason the remaining debt balance shown in the app is not up to date is that the GSB is currently upgrading its debt calculation system to comply with legal requirements. This requires extensive review of historical data covering over 4 million borrower accounts with numerous transaction details. Consequently, system development has been delayed beyond the planned timeline, causing the app's data to be temporarily outdated at times."
